First Bank Building

historic First Bank Building located at 205 West Jefferson Boulevard in South Bend, Indiana

Jones Law Office LLC is located in the historic First Bank Building located at 205 West Jefferson Boulevard in South Bend, Indiana. Built in 1915 as the home of Farmers Security Bank, it is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places within the West Washington Historic District.

The First Bank Building was designed by the Chicago architectural firm of Perkins, Fellows & Hamilton. It was built of dark brown brick with terra cotta trim in the Art Deco design. The building is unique in that the first two floors have a rectangular plan and the upper four stories form an “H” which allows for the brick and terra cotta design work at the top of the second story as well as the top of the sixth story. The majestic marble entryway has doors to Main Street as well as Jefferson Boulevard.

After the departure of Farmers Security Bank and prior to its current use as an office building, this building was home to First Bank and Trust Co. (now 1st Source Bank) and Associates Investment Company. As many remember, the First Bank building elevators were the last remaining elevators in the city to be controlled by elevator operators.

Our Furnishings

At Jones Law Office LLC, don’t expect to see the typical heavy, ornate law office furniture. This is a different type of law office, starting with the furnishings. The sleek and simple lines of mid-century modern are what you will encounter when you walk into the foyer, and throughout the offices.
